Principal Engineer
Technical depth shaped by coastal experience.
MAR Engineering Consulting is led by , P.E., PMP,
a coastal engineer with more than 12 years of experience delivering coastal resilience
and restoration projects across Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. His work
focuses on shoreline stabilization, nature-based infrastructure, sediment management,
and regional coastal and compound flood modeling.
He began his career working with Dr. Michael McCormick on the development of prototype
wave energy conversion systems and wave energy dissipation buoy technologies, gaining
early experience in coastal hydrodynamics, wave mechanics, and marine system design.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Coastal Engineering with a minor in Oceanography and has
spent more than a decade applying those principles to real-world coastal challenges
throughout Texas.
Over the course of his career, he has supported coastal resilience initiatives for
municipalities, ports, state agencies, and federal partners, including shoreline
stabilization projects, restoration programs, beneficial use of dredged material
initiatives, and regional flood risk studies. His approach emphasizes practical engineering
solutions that balance coastal processes, constructability, regulatory coordination,
and long-term resilience.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Lhe developed a deep connection to the ocean at an early age.
Growing up sailing and fishing in the Caribbean sparked his interest in coastal processes
and ultimately led him to pursue a career in coastal engineering. That connection to the
water continues to shape his professional work and fuels a passion for protecting and
restoring coastal environments for future generations.
